Jordan Spector

About the Artist

JordanSpectorProfile.jpg

Jordan Spector, from Willow Grove, Pennsylvania is a renowned artist recognized by professional athletes for his ability to capture victorious and iconic moments in art. At the beginning of his career, Spector was a walk-on wide receiver at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. As a home town kid landing a spot on a college football roster without any other offers from other schools, Spector became well known for his skills on the gridiron as well as the endless adversity he has faced on his way to making the team. All was well until multiple injuries forced him to walk away from his passion. Heartbroken yet still motivated, Jordan Spector looked to other methods to fulfil his passion for the sport of football.

The unlikely option Spector had chosen was art. From a Division 1 football jock to a humbled artist, Spector applied his energetic approach to life and love of the Philadelphia Eagles to produce some life-like portraits of the team’s fan favorite players. Jordan Spector was the perfect fit for our gallery as he was one of the first artists that focused on player edits to gain a following. Some of his edits were even put on billboards in New England to taunt Patriots fans weeks before the upcoming Super Bowl 52.

As a self taught artist, Jordan inspires many ameteur artists across the globe because he is living proof that you can make a living in the art community while having a sense of independence; which Spector uses as a confidence booster for himself and his art. He is the common citizen’s artist and is treated with lots of respect because of the path he has faced on his way to success. Now at 27 years old Jordan aims to keep providing us with more great moments immortalized in art for years to come.

The style Spector uses to immortalize his favorite players is called player edits. It's a simple, yet popular style being used a lot now today. It consists of an action shot of any athlete in front of a black background, next the artist adds some flare to the photo by adding some smoke, flares, sparks, etc. surrounding the showcased player. In some pieces Spector even went to add some iconic parts of the city that the athlete plays in. Most of his well known pieces included in this gallery follow that same process.
